Kaduna Bombing: Northern clerics meet Chief of Defence Staff

Islamic clerics from the Northern region under the aegis of the Supreme Council for Sharia in Nigeria, have met with the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa over the recent accidental bombing in Kaduna State.

Recall that over 100 innocent citizens were killed in the accidental airstrikes by the Nigerian Army earlier this month, dozens of others were also left injured in the incident.

Speaking when the clerics led by Dr Bashir Aliyu Umar visited him at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja, on Thursday, the Chief of Defence Staff promised that the military had already swung into action and would get to the root of the matter.

“We will do everything possible to get to the bottom and ensure it happens no more,” the Director of Defence Information, Brig.-Gen. Tukur Gusau, who briefed newsmen after the closed-door meeting quoted Musa to have said.

The CDS assured the clerics of “undaunting commitment” to ensuring peace in Nigeria, admitting that the recent incident was unfortunate.

He also vowed to find a lasting solution to avoid future occurrences.
