NUJ commiserates with Enugu Fire Service over death of personnel

The Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, has sympathized with the Enugu State Fire Service over the death of a staff who died while fighting the fire that razed Auto Spare Parts Market, Coal-Camp, on Wednesday.

DAILY POST recalled that Mr Chigozie Ugwu, a fire officer, died while discharging his duties during an inferno that razed about 40 shops in the market.

The condolence message is contained in a statement issued by Secretary of NUJ, Enugu State Council, Mrs Ifeoma Amuta, on Thursday in Enugu.

“The NUJ Enugu State Council, led by Mr Sam Udekwe, sends heartfelt condolences to the Director, Enugu State Fire Service, Mr Okwudiri Ohaa, the entire state Fire Service and the Ugwu family on the demise of Fire Officer Ugwu.

“NUJ notes the dedication and commitment to duty of the deceased and other fire fighters and prays for God’s continuous strength and protection to all the fire fighters in the state.

“The union also sympathises with motor spare part dealers and traders whose shops and wares were destroyed by the fire outbreak.”
